Our Innovation
Asphalt is America’s most recycled and reused material, recycled and reused at a rate of just over 99%. In 2009-2010, the use of environmentally friendly warm mix asphalt grew by more than 148%, a trend that continues today. Recycling of asphalt pavements and asphalt shingles conserved 20.5 million barrels of asphalt binder in 2010 alone. Our team is committed to recycling material and uses more than 50,000 tons of post consumer asphalt shingles in our mixes each year.
From the rooftops to the roadways. We were green when green was just a color. Environmentally sound pavement designs incorporating larger percentages of recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) and post consumer asphalt shingles (PRAS). Porous pavement designs that allow water to drain through the pavement, providing cost effective storm-water management systems that promote infiltration and improve water quality. Technology that allows a warm mix asphalt to be produced at lower temperatures cuts fuel consumption and decreases the production of greenhouse gases.
Seizing every opportunity to recycle and conserve energy, Barnhill continues to lead the industry with innovative products and services.
