
NAPA Award for Curtis L. Brown, Jr. Field Airport in Elizabethtown, N.C
March 25, 2025The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) recently announced that Barnhill Contracting Company won a 2024 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction of an asphalt pavement project. The company was recognized during the association’s 70th Annual Meeting. “The asphalt pavement industry is committed to building high-quality projects that deliver superior performance to the traveling public. All contractors’ projects earning a Quality in Construction award are measured against best practices designed to live up to that commitment,” said 2024 NAPA Chair Brady Meldrem. “Earning the Quality in Construction Award demonstrates that Barnhill Contracting Co. has met or exceeded these rigorous standards.”
Barnhill Contracting Co. won the award for the rehabilitation of the runway and taxiway apron at Curtis L. Brown, Jr. Field Airport in Elizabethtown, N.C. The company was tasked with correcting and grading the variable cross slopes on the existing pavements. Barnhill Contracting produced smooth, high-quality asphalt runways with good rideability.
