Barnhill Honored with CAGC’s Excellence Award for Capitol Broadcasting Corporation/WRAL Renovation Project
January 29, 2020Barnhill Contracting Company was honored with a Carolinas Associated General Contractors Construction Excellence Award for their work on the Capitol Broadcasting/WRAL Headquarters project in Raleigh, NC. The award was presented during the CAGC Annual Conference on Saturday, January 25, 2020 in Aruba and recognizes projects that illustrate best practice and excellence of craft in the construction industry.
The CBC/WRAL project included a 12,000-SF addition and renovation of 14,00-SF of existing space on the company’s main campus. The greatest challenge on the project was noise management as the existing facility was located directly adjacent to two large television studios and the main control room for all of CBC’s television broadcasts. During broadcast times, construction activities were suspended, or performed with minimal disruption. And yes, construction was even halted to allow the lottery numbers to be pulled and broadcasted without disruption. Throughout the course of the project, no broadcasts or media productions were affected by construction.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by the AGC and our industry peers,” says Randy Fichera, Streamline Division vice president with Barnhill. “Over the 11-month construction duration, our team worked hand-in-hand with Capitol Broadcasting to ensure no disruption to their operations. I am proud of each member of our team who delivered exceptional quality to our client and who is a fantastic representation of our company.”
